Deathcore band Face Yourself has released their insane 3rd new album 'Tales of death.'
As a transcontinental New York based band ranging from all parts of the world including France, New Jersey, And even Colorado. This 6 six piece band shows us no stopping in their climb to releasing the most brutal Ep’s yet to come.
So let’s break down the album itself!
I had the opportunity to talk to front woman Yasmine Liverneaux Belkhodja about the new release, and what all it has in store for us listeners! Yasmine starts out by stating “Tales Of Death is an EP concept of a few horror tales, as I was really inspired by the Halloween period while writing the lyrics.” With knowing that it really made the album and music videos speak more to me.
First track of this EP is ‘ The Betrayer’ showcasing the pure sound of FaceYourself, this song is hard not to mean mug and want to start a mosh pit too. Corey Doremus is actually the writer behind these lyrics!
Next up on the album is a fast, brutal but also ambient vibe that makes your jaw drop the moment you hear it. “ ‘Guillotine’ is about the French revolution. Personally my favorite as i enjoyed writing a horror story around my culture." Yasmine states. Which is honestly an extremely cool concept to listen to once you know that she wrote it around her own roots! With these guitar and vocal duets, you really can’t go wrong.
Yasmine continues to break down her thoughts behind these new songs. “ Our third song ‘ Sirens’ is about sirens obviously, haha. But it was written from the point of view of sailors stuck in a storm.” With this song you can almost hear a cry, a sorrow of being stuck at sea by the guitar playing.. While Yasmine calls like a siren surrounding the sailors.
“ ‘Bathory’ Is about a blood countess” starting off powerful, this song makes you feel powerful. But is it in a good way or bad way? Maybe that’s just what the countess, mother of the dark, wants you to feel.
Last and final song is ‘ Among the dead ‘ “ This song is a ghost story (A spirit who seeks vengeance)” Being the only song to have a feature, Oceans of illusion and Face Yourself really work together with intense instrumentals and vocals creating this perfect end for an EP full of horror.
This EP Is well worth the listen. Giving you 18 minutes of pure brutal vocals and breakdowns that’ll really get you wanting to jump in a mosh pit. Face Yourself is really on the rise, and it’s no doubt they will be touring more in the future. Their first debut show is going to be with “ Signs of the swarm” on January 27th, 2024 at Williams center in New Jersey.
