Hozier set to play Finsbury Park in London
Everyone's favourite Irish cryptid, Hozier, will be performing in London on July 7th alongside Lord Huron and Brittany Howard (formerly of Alabama Shakes) in Finsbury Park. While you may not know their names immediately, Lord Huron and Brittany Howard both have proved themselves in the indie genre over the years.
Lord Huron's most known song might be 'The Night We Met' which has been covered pretty frequently on TikTok as of late, or it could be one of their newer songs (2021 compared to 2015): 'I lied'. Brittany Howard's most known song, at least in my eyes, would be 'Don't Wanna Fight'- making use of her amazing vocal fry ability from the very beginning of that song. While that was also from 2015 (big year for the Indie genre!), one of Brittany's songs from 2019 might be more your speed: 'Stay High'.
After years of staying high in multiple genre's charts, Hozier might not even need an introduction nowadays. He essentially took the world by storm, after releasing 'Take Me To Church' in 2013 and he really hasn't stopped since. With his albums, 'Hozier' (2014), 'Wasteland, Baby!' (2019), and 'Unreal Unearth' (2024), buffered by EPs, 'Nina Cried Power- EP' (2018), and his most recent release - 'Unheard' (2024), Hozier has been unstoppable with more than one single from each project ending up on charts.
Most recently, his single 'Too Sweet' has been making its round on every social media platform you can imagine. But at this point, I don't know if anyone is truly surprised by this as his music always has this effect on everyone. His songs are haunting and stay with us far after we've stopped listening. It's no wonder why - with his stunning vocal range and ability to loop the listener into his own world through his lyricism, his songs have always offered a musical Irish Folk Tale experience at your fingertips.
With an, almost, global tour coming up, you've got quite a few chances to see him live and I sincerely hope you do get the chance. Just as his songs do, his concerts tend to stay with you far after you've left.
