Thornhill Release New Song 'Silver Swarm' and Announce New Album 'BODIES'
Australian genre defying metal band Thornhill released a new song on Friday whilst also simultaneously announcing their new album ‘Bodies’. Having previously released 2 huge songs, ‘Obsession’ and ‘Nerv’ last year, it was only a matter of time before a new album was announced.
With their new song ‘Silver Swarm’, the band take their unique sound further than before, breaking new boundaries whilst also keeping core elements that fans have come to know and love about the band. The song's theme is a look at the emotions and feelings created through the toxic pull of manipulation. Best described as a toxic relationship and the wish to run but also the feeling of being pulled back in. The song only emphasises this further with its tone and the shift between ethereal ambience and aggressive, bass heavy sections.
Where 'Obsession' was driven by a consistent punchy bassline, 'Silver Swarm' takes a different approach, often changing up the standard song formula in a way that keeps the listener on their toes. Thornhill’s use of crunching guitar tones against vocalist Jacobs mighty vocal range is another selling point for the band and the diversity his voice brings to the track makes this a third solid track in a row. Having caught the band on tour with Bury Tomorrow at the end of 2024, I can confirm that Thornhill are a band worth listening to, with the release date set in stone it’s likely going to be a huge year for the band. New album ‘Bodies’ is out on 4th April 2025 via UNFD. ‘Silver Swarm’ is available now on all major streaming platforms.
