The Used at NorVa in Richmond, VA
An electrifying anticipation filled the line that was wrapped around the whole venue for what was to be an amazing sold out show. Many ponder about the crowd energy for the night. Hoping there would be crowd surfing and moshing despite the demographic. Little did they was what to come later.
Picking up the baton was AMIRA ELFEKY, an artist I wasn’t to familiar with but became extremely familiar with on the drive back home jamming their entire discography. Their sound and their energy felt like a mystical trance. By the looks of it, definitely worked as it seemed everyone who had tickets was in attendance. It honestly warmed my heart. There’s not many shows I can recall where a sold out show had everyone in there and ready to see the opener. From the best guitarist hype man, to the human beyblade, all the way to down right gravy bass, they left fans wanting more. The chanting from the crowd for an encore was incredible. Complete veterans in the games and this is only their first tour.
Passing the baton to Story Of The Year. Their walk on left some confused for a brief second as a push competition broke out before their set, all in good fun. Energy was already high and they full throttled it. I don’t know who was doing front of house for them but the mix was sounding heavenly. Aside from the lack of clicks in Dans ears. Props to the guys for having a set list that seemed to have been cater for their fans because it seemed like the band and fans were in perfect sync that night. Especially when 'Tear Me To Pieces' came on pretty much was tearing fans to pieces in utter joy! Overall an absolute great support into The Used, honestly felt like an amazing tour package that should have a part two- just saying.
The moment everyone been waiting for The Used. Buuuuuzzzz….buzzzzz..bzzzz BANG!!! What left like an ultimate tease as their walk on was a track of distant buzzing sound for a minute or two followed by a flash bang. The Used boys take the stage in such dominance energy let’s call it 'Last Show Energy'….'cause it was. With vocals that came from a raspy god came to bless the mic, only to ensue a couple of mosh pits that were slowly building momentum. I've never witnessed a performance so radioactive that as if every song that followed brought the temperature higher and higher. Oh don’t worry if you were wondering there was plenty of "FUCK YOU" chanting going on, IYKYK. My favorite part and perfect way to start closing the set was seeing Bert completely embodied the whole night energy and go for an epic stage dive.
