Spare The Dead Gives Hope for the Unheard in “I Made This Song For You”
Spare The Dead comes back with their new single, “I Made This Song For You.” Releasing on December 8th, 2023, I can honestly say that I can’t wait to add this to my playlist. The song opens with a creepy, bone-sounding sample, immediately followed by dissonant slides on the guitars and a pounding beat on the drums. The soft vocals in the verses were a pleasant surprise that I did not see coming and made a nice contrast to the strong, powerful chorus.
Lyrically, the song goes into not being able to put thoughts into words and how emotions can be explained in so many different ways and fashions. The chorus leaves a lasting impression, as it’s something everyone can relate to.
From the beginning of the song, I could feel my head nodding along immediately. By the end of the song, I felt like I knew the chorus already. “I Made This Song For You” is the culmination of thought-provoking lyrics and intricate instrumentation that really captivated me. After listening a few times, I found myself singing the chorus in my head while going through the rest of my day. I can’t wait to see what's next for Spare The Dead, and will definitely be looking forward to future releases.
