Pop Evil - November 13, 2024 - The Vogue - Indianapolis, Indiana

It may have been a rainy, dreary mid-November, Wednesday evening on November 13th in Indianapolis, but nothing would stop Pop Evil and Bad Wolves from packing the house as they brought The Animal Instinct Tour to town. Those in attendance were treated with two incredible Canadian support bands, Oni and Sierra Pilot.  Many famous musicians have played The Vogue, including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band, Snoop Dogg, the Ramones, and many more.  Pop Evil is no stranger to this venue and it was great seeing them stop by on another tour.

With four bands on the bill, the show started promptly around 7 PM.  The first of the two Canadian bands, Oni, took the stage first. Oni came out firing on all cylinders and quickly captured the crowd's attention.  Oni has toured with big acts previously, such as Gojira and Megadeth.  Their set list included "Deja Vu," "Spark," and "Aura."  Oni continuously built momentum throughout their set and I highly recommend you check them out!

Sierra Pilot, also Canada-based, took the stage next.  They toured with Pop Evil earlier this year on a short run and were asked by the band to join on the Animal Instinct tour. Barely into their first song, it became obvious as to why Pop Evil wanted Sierra Pilot as support once again.  Their setlist included "Horizons," "Turpentine," and "Hollow" among others.  Again, I highly recommend that you check them out.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see them as a direct support on a stadium tour soon.

As the Animal Instinct tour heats up, the favorite Los Angeles-based Bad Wolves were next to take the stage.  Many of us fell in love with their version of "Zombie" and I couldn’t wait to catch them live. Lead vocalist, Daniel Laskiewicz, brought incredible energy with each song and also took some time to interact with the crowd on occasion.  Their setlist included "Killing Me Slowly," "Sober," "If Tomorrow Never Comes," "Lifeline," and "Hear Me Now" among others. Not only did Daniel go up to the balcony to sing part of a song but he also entered the pit and sang with the crowd during "Zombie."  Enjoying a sing-a-long with Daniel is something I’m sure those on the floor won’t forget!

Pop Evil headlined the night by starting their set at 150% energy and did not look back.  I previously saw them open for Disturbed in 2021 and Leigh Kakaty’s, theirlead vocalist, energy was next level.  With energy fit for an arena, I couldn’t wait to see Pop Evil play a smaller club.  Joey Walser (on bass) and Blake Allison (on drums) were new to the band since I last saw Pop Evil.  However, the synergy between band members was incredible and you’d never know by just watching that two members are newer.  Their setlist ranged from new "What Remains" to some originals "100 in a 55."  Starting with "Eye of the Storm," Pop Evil played favorites such as "Trenches," "Skeletons," "Torn to Pieces," and "Breathe Again" before topping the set with "Waking Lions."  Cheers to the bands and to The Vogue for an awesome show.  If you missed out, you can catch the Animal Instinct Tour in Fort Wayne on November 27th!
