Northlane makes a stop in Tampa for their Mirror’s Edge Tour
Northlane’s Mirror’s Edge tour stopped in Tampa, Florida, last Tuesday, and it was truly something special. Despite the intense heat, a full crowd flooded the outside stage of The Orpheum as Windwaker, Thornhill, Invent Animate, and Northlane prepared to go on. To say that they put on an all-timer of a show would be an understatement.
Windwaker got the night started with high energy and a wonderful performance. Coming hot off the release of their new album "Hyperviolence," they played songs off that record that fans seemed engaged with. Having not been overly familiar with the band prior, they made a fan out of me.
Thornhill played next and continued the momentum. Jacob is truly a captivating performer, and tonight was no exception. The band hit every note perfectly, and he was spectacular on stage.
Invent Animate was a direct support to Northlane, and watching them as the sun set was something I may never be able to experience again. If you do not know Invent Animate, then you better learn quickly because they are one of the most polished bands in their genre, and their stage presence is unmatched. I will be itching for their return to Florida.
Northlane closed out the night with a discography-spanning setlist and a mesmerizing stage set up to boot. Back lights flashed, the masked guitarist jumped, and the band sounded massive. I don't know how to explain it, but the band sounded ten times as big as they are, and their energy flowed through that crowd. Multiple walls of death, a constant pit, and even people at the bar were jumping around with the excitement that Northlane commanded.
Ultimately, this was truly one of the most technically impressive tours I have ever attended, and every band sounded incredibly well-polished, well-presented, and captivating. All four of these bands are ones you should be watching and waiting for.
