Megadeath at Ruoff Music Center in Indiana

All that Remains - Mudvayne - Megadeth Review

  Legendary metal gods, Megadeth, descended upon the Ruoff Music Center on Friday, September 20th.  Megadeth was joined by All that Remains and Mudvayne as the trio assaulted Noblesville, Indiana with relentless thrashing riffs, gutterals, and insane solos.  Although the venue is about 30 minutes north of downtown Indianapolis, it wouldn’t have shocked me if the sound carried that far.

All that Remains opened up what would prove to be an electric night.  Philip Labonte wasted no time getting the crowd moving.  His stage presence, matched with his powerful screams, elevated the energy to a level that would not subside.  For sure, All that Remains was going to play "Two Weeks." However, they included two of their newer releases, "Divine" and "Let You Go."  Jason Richardson’s album appearance with All that Remains was on Divine.  I’m looking forward to their next studio album after watching them live.  I highly recommend catching them live.

    Severe weather moved in shortly after All that Remains left the stage.  Perhaps, the electricity was too much for mother nature.  There was a 45 minute break in the show and everyone not under some type of cover was asked to return to their vehicles.  Hats off to the venue staff with the expediency in ensuring everyone was safe and the quick return of the fans into the venue.  

  There was a short-lived fear that Mudvayne might’ve been cut from the show due to the weather delay.  Thankfully, there was a time buffer with the noise ordinance which allowed Mudvayne to still play nearly a full set.  Of course, "Happy?" and "Dig" were kept in the setlist.  Words cannot come close to capturing what it’s like to see Mudvayne perform in full makeup.  How does one look more intense or terrifying than Chad with his spooky eyes, face paint, and blood soaked arms?  Also, if you want to watch a master on bass then look no further than Ryan Martinie.  Hands down, Mudvayne has been one of the most interesting stage shows to shoot.  You need to catch one of their shows.   

   Lightning continued to flash across the night sky as metal Megadeth prepared to take the stage.  Thankfully, the weather was moving away from the venue and the show would go on. As the lights fell, the stage slowly turned red and the ominous “Bring Out Your Dead” chants began.  Soon, the curtains fell and the legendary big four band launched into "The Sick, The Dying… And the Dead!."  Dave Mustain relentlessly thrashed the crowd for the next hour and a half with blistering solo after solo.  Megadeth clearly satisfied the fans’ appetite by including mega hits "Hangar 18," "Sweating Bullets," "Countdown to Extinction," "Tornado of Souls," and "Symphony of Destruction" in the setlist.  It also wouldn’t be a Megadeth concert without an appearance from Vic Rattlehead and tonight was no different!  Megadeth’s last album was released in 2022 and rumor has it an album may drop in 2025.  It’s clear Megadeth has no plans to slow down anytime soon and that’s exactly how the fans want it.
