Make Them Suffer brings their explosive headliner to the heart of Music City

Ever since I saw Make Them Suffer open for ERRA last year, I’ve been eagerly waiting for another chance to see them live. So when they announced a headlining tour in the US this year, I had a feeling Nashville was going to show up in full force, and I was right.

Windwaker is one of those bands that pushes the boundaries of metalcore. Their set was heavily infused with synths, creating a unique atmosphere, while vocalist Liam Guinane frequently incorporated rap elements into his performance. Some Windwaker songs leaned into a heavier, rap-focused style, like their opener “Dopamine Freestyle,” while others take a more pop-driven approach, as demonstrated by “SIRENS.” No matter the genre influence of the song, the crowd was fully engaged and on their feet throughout the set.

Like Moths to Flames didn’t hesitate to get the crowd moving from the moment they hit the stage. Vocalist Chris Roetter made sure the crowd kept jumping, urging them to stay energized throughout the set. They delivered a heavy hitting nine-song set, featuring tracks like “Habitual Decline,” “Burn in Water, Drown in Flame,” and “The Worst In Me” The set spanned through five of their albums, offering fans a well-rounded blend of both new and classic songs.

From the moment the first guitar riff hit, security struggled to keep up with the wave of crowd surfers at Make Them Suffer’s set. The pit erupted and didn’t let up until the very end. Every time I see them, Make Them Suffer brings their A-game, and the fans absolutely feed off that energy. This show had one of the wildest crowds I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been to my fair share of shows. With the powerhouse vocal duo of Sean Harmonis and Alex Reade, it felt like listening to the album live. It was absolutely impeccable. There’s something about a Make Them Suffer show that brings out the best in the crowd. They do what other bands do, but they take it to another level. Well done, Aussies. Well done.
