London Crowned the Witch at Heaven

The last night of the UK portion of the Crown the Witch tour took place at the iconic LGBTQ+ venue Heaven in London. The evening started with The Darklings who had a very upbeat and interactive set that the crowd seemed to really enjoy while they joked about how they formed accidentally as a joke and then ended up on the tour with Bambie Thug. Their first single ‘Eat His Heart’ is set to be released on streaming services soon and I can’t wait to listen again!

Next up, Bambie Thug took to the stage accompanied by their 2 back up dancers wearing masks. Bambie Thug entered the stage wearing a cape with their hair up in the shape of a crown and started with their most recent single ‘hex so heavy’ before leading into ‘Necromancy’ and ‘Hierophant’. The enter set was upbeat and full of energy with intense choreography throughout with Bambie Thug utilising their throne and all the props at their disposition throughout the show as well as several outfit changes. The show made for a fully immersive experience that the crowd was absolutely eating up. This then led into Kawasaki (I love it)’, ‘Bye Boy’ and ‘Last Summer (I know what you did)’. Their songs combine dark imagery with upbeat melodies, socio-political messages, and queerness, making for the most genre-bending, captivating tracks with interesting production.

Next up was unreleased ‘Children Should Be Laughing’ which was written about the current ongoing genocide in Palestine. Then it was time for ‘Careless’ and ‘Eternal Sunshine’. Then one of the dancers did a solo routine to ‘Psilocybin’ before Bambie Thug was brought back on stage in a wheelie bin for ‘Trash’ before being lifted out and asking for their Trans Flag to perform ‘Egregore’ and ‘P.M.P’ which had the crowd screaming back the lyrics louder than any of the previous songs. ‘Headbang’ and ‘Tsunami (11:11)’ got the fans going even more mental than before, they brought out water guns and doused the headbanging crowd with water. Last but not least was ‘Doomsday Blue’ which was their Eurovision entry this year and got the loudest crowd response so far.

I had high expectations going into this concert from what I’d seen online and what friends had told me, but they far exceeded all those expectations and put on such an extravagant show. That was one of the best concerts I have been to in a while, and they really brought the venue to life like I’d never seen before.

Catch them on the rest of their Europe tour if you can! I highly recommend it!
