Hot Milk Return In Full Force With New Single ‘90 Seconds To Midnight’

Hot Milk have bought us a timely, angsty single ‘90 Seconds To Midnight’ ahead of their new album ‘Corporation P.O.P’, coming on 27th June. This single gives us a taste of what’s to come combining substantial riffs, philosophical lyrics and a continuous energy. It has it all. Hot Milk are an absolute force to be reckoned with and ‘90 Seconds To Midnight’ adds a new intensity to their already impressive discography.
Singer Han Mee said ‘we wanted to punch you proper in the face with this’ and it does exactly that. Hitting you in all the right places.
Bursting with a groovy riff, a drum beat that has you banging your head and a playful tempo, this track draws you right in. This almost playful riff contrasts with the infuriating tone of the lyrics but keeps the single that even more tongue-in-cheek. The vocals are strong, having melodies mixed with a harder hitting scream.
This lively riff serves as the only pause between verses packed with power. The vocal combination keeps the track even more interesting and dynamic. ‘90 Seconds To Midnight’ has an addictive energy to it.
The single takes inspiration from 17th century philosopher Rousseau and the poet John Betjemen lyrically. Hot Milk are unapologetic in the themes they discuss coming at political topics with force both with words and sonically.

The sudden heavy drop at 1:50 was exactly what the single needed. Bringing a heavier tone with mightier, raw vocals and a great breakdown with the guitars before we are bought right back into the chorus.
The music video is moody and fitting, filmed across industrial and housing estates in the band's local area of Salford and bringing in political imagery. These visuals are emotive and considered adding to the representation of current affairs the track discusses. There is a use of sombre, grey tones and you can even spot British Legend Frank Skinner feature in the video too.
Hot Milk have ventured to be more hardcore and not only created a catchy melody you want to have on repeat but focused on thought provoking lyrics. ‘90 Seconds To Midnight’ is hectic, the current state of the world discussed with rightful outrage. This heavier theme suits Hot Milk and they have outdone themselves with this new release.
New album ‘Corporation P.O.P’ is out on 27th June, make sure to listen to ‘90 Seconds To Midnight’ in the meantime!
