Des Rocs Returns With Deluxe Edition of ‘Dream Machine’ - 'Dream Machine: The Lucid Edition'

Des Rocs has returned with a deluxe version of 2023 album ‘Dream Machine’ titled ‘Dream Machine: The Lucid Edition’. Packed with new tracks, live and acoustic versions and even a collaboration with Underoath you’re in for a treat.

The original release was made up of nine blazing tracks spanning modern rock and roll, grunge and metal and the deluxe version continues to expand in sound and emotion.

The first new release is ‘Love and a Smoking Gun’, a dystopian, cinematic track opening with fittingly haunting vocals. Powerful piano chords mark the start of a build you anticipate with crashing drums. Laced with classic rock elements and an intricate structure, ‘Love and a Smoking Gun’ captures you from the start and does not let you go. An impressive use of tempo changes takes the track to the next level.

Following in a similarly impressive fashion is ‘Trauma Loop’ creatively linking to the title with a raw guitar riff that loops until a bursting of low toned instrumentals take you into the chorus. Des Rocs is a master of combining gritty and explosive vocals. An innovative ending sees the rough guitar feedback blend with the final vocals for an emotive finish.

‘The Way It Has To Be’ highlights a transition from his debut, 2021 album ‘A Real Good Person, In A Real Bad Place’. Softer in sound, ghostly vocals produced effectively to capture an eerie feeling.

Of course, a stand out on the deluxe edition is Des Rocs choice of a first ever collaboration with Underoath which was clearly a great decision. Teaming up on a track originally on the album, ‘In The Night’ becomes even more intense and emotional. Pain and anguish are further amplified in the vocals, impressive sound mixing and stunning visuals. The accompanying music video makes ‘In The Night’ an experience.

The live version of ‘In The Night’ keeps up the energy before it is stripped back in the final addition of an acoustic track ‘Hold On’. Softer instrumentals allow you to focus on Des Roc’s beautiful and unique vocals.

The Deluxe edition of ‘Dream Machine’ highlights a world Des Rocs has made and we have the privilege of indulging in. Carefully crafted tracks and an impressive collaboration with Underoath are just part of what makes this edition great. ‘Dream Machine: The Lucid Edition’ sees Des Rocs further refine his sound and delve deeper into a rock and roll style with forceful riffs and raw vocals making it clear that Des Rocs is a name you need to know in rock music.
