Daring Greatly new single "Ain't My Sound"- New EP

Daring Greatly band’s new single, “Ain’t My Sound.” Debuted on January 1, 2025! Daring Greatly’s newly released song, “Ain’t My Sound” tells part of the story of the band’s journey and efforts to succeed while maintaining integrity. Their style is a fusion, of sorts, across genres. As the lyrics portray, they are “rhythm and blues, jazz infused, funk and rock,” and are working to fit into the industry’s defined lines; however, their rich and diverse musicality leads to the challenge of finding the path in a single lane. This song, along with many of their past hits, has hints of country, rock, funk, and jazz, and while one of these lanes alone “ain’t” their sound, merging them leads to the uniqueness and musical depth of Daring Greatly.

The song has country rock vibes and is a brilliant culmination of the significant growth this group has made. It is a collective effort, especially with the new band members bringing fresh energy, generating a spark and strengthening the bond of the group. Having followed this band for almost 5 years, I have witnessed not only their effort, brotherhood, talent, and passion, but have seen and felt the magic of the music they create touch everyone in the room.

“Ain’t My Sound” is written and performed by all 5 Daring Greatly band members: Jeff Starkey (lead guitar, electric guitar), Liam Croome (keyboards, lead vocals, Hammond organ, piano, vocals), Patrick Croome (acoustic guitar, harmony, vocals), Brendan Cutrer (bass guitar), and Brayden Tario (drums, harmony, vocals). “Ain’t My Sound” was recorded at Big Fish Recording in Encinitas, California, with production and engineering by: Daring Greatly (production), Jon Wubbena (mixing engineer, recording engineer), and Joe Bozzi (mastering engineer).

Daring Greatly was founded in 2014 by brothers Patrick and Liam Croome and Brayden Tario, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. San Diego, California, is the group’s current home base.

The name Daring Greatly is based on The Man in the Arena passage in Theodore Roosevelt’s “Citizenship in a Republic” speech that emphasizes being vulnerable and taking on challenges, despite the potential for failure. (“It is not the critic who counts...the credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena...who at best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.” -Theodore Roosevelt.) This group takes that message to heart, giving their all to dare greatly.

Accolades include their song “Never a Goodbye” earning the song of the year award at the 2023 San Diego Music Awards, as well as being nominated in 2024 for song of the year (“Blame It on the Whiskey”), artist of the year, and best rock artist. Daring Greatly has also shared the stage with the Plain White T’s, Young the Giant, Bon Jovi, and ZacBrown Band.

“Ain’t My Sound” will be included on the band’s new 5-song EP titled “Let It Ride,” to be released on January 31,2025, which is the same night Daring Greatly will headline at The Music Box in San Diego as part of The Road to Wonder front Music and Arts Festival in San Diego.“Let It Ride” track list:
