Boston Manor Leaves Norwich Arts Centre Buzzing After Show With Oversize

British rock band Boston Manor recently kicked off their 2024 UK tour, and had a headline show at the Norwich Art Centre with Oversize as their support. Coming in at midway through their line of shows, I was able to attend their Norwich date to capture it in action.

First on the stage were Oversize, a band full of long hair and potential whiplash, bringing an energetic stage with headbanging, riffs and buttery vocals. As well as entertaining the crowd with their charisma between tracks, they played their recent single ‘Salt’ which felt softer and lured the crowd into a trance. Tracks from their Ep ‘Into the Ceiling’ gave the that same feeling with dreamy melodies that beguiled the room into a softer atmosphere which they then juxtaposed by closing out their set with more fast-paced songs to pump up the crowd, those heavier tracks accompanied by strobing lights and mist creating a very grungey feel to the stage.

Boston Manor came onto the stage with a heavier energy, promptly starting their set with a gritty track followed by one of their more popular songs ‘Foxglove’ which had the crowd going absolutely crazy only one song in –including me in the photo pit, with it being one of my favourite songs – the mosh pits already forming and frantic and immediately the atmosphere of the room was buzzing. Halfway through the set came their newest song ‘Sliding Doors’ with a beautiful blend of screaming vocals and a much more intense sound from the band, the strobing lights filling the space adorned with crowd-surfers and a moshpit that took up the entire centre of the room. They closed out the night with ‘Halo’, their most popular song, leaving the crowd on a massive high, after a night of thrashing, screaming and an overall eclectic energy.
