Artist Spotlight - Deadlands
Fresh off of their Paper Souls Tour, Deadlands is hard at work writing new music. For those that may not be familiar, Deadlands is an up and coming metalcore band from Long Island, New York. The band consists of Kasey Karlsen on vocals, CJ Arey (NO SHADE) on guitar, and Kyle OBraitis on drums. House Of Cards already being a huge success with over 1 million streams on Spotify, fans are foaming at the mouth for new music. Those that were lucky enough to catch a show recently, Deadlands played two new unreleased songs. I had the chance to see them recently live at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ and The Meadows in Brooklyn, NY and the connection with their fans is unreal. Some fans even getting tattoos of their signatures. The energy is nonstop and the fans feed off of that energy making it an almost symbiotic relationship. They played songs from their first EP Sentence Of Myself along with a medley of covers including Calling All The Monsters, King For A Day, and Shadow Moses which were all crowd pleasers. I caught myself just smiling at times watching how much fun everyone was having on stage. At the end of the set, the building shook with roars for an encore. Deadlands delivered with House Of Cards as the crowd went absolutely nuts. If you get the chance, go see them live before they’re selling out shows nightly. Deadlands is a band you don’t want to miss.
