An evening with Sprints in London
The night started at the legendary Heaven nightclub in London, where Venus Grrrls took to the stage to get the concert started. The 5-piece goth grunge band started with “Divine”, an upbeat song before leading into their latest release “Bloodsick”. These were then followed by fan favourites “Hex”, “Liar Liar” and “Sudocream Queen” (this was the first song of theirs that I ever heard which got me into their music!). Next up was their favourite song to play “Glisten”, before ending their set with “Lidocaine”, a cover of Siouxsie and the Banshees’ “Spellbound” and “Goth Girl”. They had amazing stage presence and was such a fun set to watch. Definitely recommend checking out their music and getting tickets for their September tour. Keep an eye on them, because they are destined for big things!
Then, it was Sprints' turn. They are a 4-piece Irish post-punk garage band who have recently released their debut album “Letter To Self”. They performed a full set of catchy tunes that were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Some of my favourites were “Up and Comer” and “Literary mind”. They delivered a raw and powerful performance that left the audience buzzing with energy. The intimate setting of Heaven perfectly complemented the band’s gritty sound, creating a charged atmosphere that captivated the crowd from start to finish. The lead singer, Karla Chubb then finished the night by crowd surfing during “Little Fix”. The rest of this tour is sold out, but be sure to catch them on their November tour!
