A Sense Of Purpose Partner With Theoria Records And Release Anthemic New Single “Pushing Daisies”

Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, A Sense of Purpose have made a name for themselves with a range of intense breakdowns, dynamic hooks, vocals that sound both modern and nostalgic at once, intricate guitar work, and just generally being nice people. We're excited to hear that they're partnering with Theoria Records and even more excited about the new single, "Pushing Daisies," they released alongside the announcement.
A Sense of Purpose has perfected their ability to sound nostalgic yet innovative at once. Their music truly is for everyone but especially for those who gravitate more towards bands like Erra, Like Moths to Flame, Spiritbox, Polaris, and Currents. Throughout their discography you'll find they consistently create balance between clean vocals and heavy breakdowns and "Pushing Daisies" is no different.

Named after the phrase "Pushing Daisies," the song explores the slow decay of letting negative habits and traits encompass your life. With lyrics like "I've been pushing daisies, if I let this take me, time will tell" it's hard to ignore the main theme of the song, yet it's equally hard to not, at the very least, tap along with the song. Additionally, the line, "I've been feeling lately, that I'm going crazy, can't you tell," is simply too relatable at the moment. Whether you can relate to addiction and/or self-sabotage or not, the song is far too catchy and relatable given the current climate to not have on repeat- that includes it getting stuck in your head.
Engaging lyrics aside, they yet again show their ability to innovate via instruments through this song. While the majority of the song is stable, the breakdown seemingly comes out of now where. Abruptly, a discordant guitar ushers you into a breakdown as it disrupts the established rhythm. Rough vocals come in shortly after and further you along the breakdown. The vocals end smoothly and leave space for heavy drums to further the discordant energy of the breakdown. Masterfully using pitch harmonics along side drum work to continue the disorientation, the breakdown cleanly ends and brings you back to the clean vocals shortly before ending the song with those previously mentioned catchy lyrics.
Whether you've seen them play before or this is your first time hearing of A Sense of Purpose, or ASOP, you won't be disappointed. From small bars to large venues, they continually bring their all to every one of their performances. Lucky for you, you'll, hopefully, have a few opportunities to see them in the coming months.
